Zeas
About
The ZEAS (Zero Emission Adriatic Ship) project aims to modernize maritime industry with a hydrogen-powered ferry, setting a new standard for sustainability in the Adriatic Sea. Running from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2027, this four-year initiative will construct a climate-neutral ferry designed to reduce emissions and protect the marine environment.
Key components include an onshore hydrogen refueling station and a digital twin system for managing and monitoring the ship’s propulsion, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Coordinated by Lürssen Design Center Kvarner, ZEAS unites 14 partners from 7 countries, with a project budget of €18.9 million, of which €13.5 million is EU-funded under the Horizon Europe program.
